January 28th-February 3rd Weekly Giveaway

The ERGO Baby Carrier is one of the most popular baby carriers on the market! It is easy to put on and take off while providing you complete freedom of movement. This baby carrier can be used from infant (by using the Infant Insert) to toddler - just one carrier to meet all your needs. Simple! Even better, it is super versatile and you can wear it on the front, back, and hip positions (moving between the positions is easy). The ERGO Baby Carrier has an ergonomic design that fully supports both you and your baby in a very comfortable and healthy way. For baby this design supports a correct sitting position for their hip, pelvis, and spine growth. This position disperses most of the baby's weight between the hips and thighs helping to eliminate compression of the spine when hanging by the crotch which most other designs require. For parents, the fit of this baby carrier helps keep your body aligned and alleviate common back pain with baby carrying so you can hold your baby longer. With two shoulder straps and a very supportive waist belt the baby's weight is evenly distributed over the parent's body. The ERGO Baby Carrier is great to be used anytime...great for shopping, traveling, hiking, housework, gardening, and any activity you can think of where the parent(s) need freedom yet baby is safely and securely attached. Leave your stroller at home! No more navigating through crowds trying not to run others over. Plus, in the front position this baby carrier is perfect for nursing and simply holding your baby close when they are in need of comfort. If your baby falls asleep (which can happen often in this comfy carrier) the attached sleeping hood is perfect to cover your baby.

The ERGO Baby Carrier is a one size fits most carrier (great for Moms and Dads) and comes in a variety of colors! Each carrier comes with a free instructional DVD. Accessories are available too!

ERGO has a new Infant Insert that is designed to support baby's pelvis, hip joint and leg position along with the head and neck. The specially padded and shaped cushion can quickly and easily be placed in the carrier and readjusted as needed. It snaps closed around the infant, holding the baby in a cozy, protected environment.

To enter to win a free Organic Sea Green Ergo Baby Carrier and Organic Silver Infant Insert, you will receive ONE entry for EACH option below (you MUST leave a comment for each option saying what you did and where). This means you can get multiple entries increasing your chance to WIN! (each "Weekly Giveaway" may be different):

I have 2 young LOs but have not been super successful with babywearing. My daughter didn't love the sling, and my son was too heavy for it. He liked the baby bjorn I borrowed so we used that, but that killed my back. I have lusted over the Ergo but can't afford it. I wonder if my back would be able to handle it more. I think my son would love it. here's to hoping I win :).

I love babywearing...I love that I can help at my Mom's Group hands free while still keeping my baby close(and off the floor). I also love that when he's fussy and I'm trying to make dinner or clean I can just wrap him up on my back and finish what I'm doing with a happy baby.

And here is a story about bwing.
We went to Indiana State Dunes Park camping and hiking. My dd was only 2 years old at the time and could not have handled walking all that way on her own. There was no way I could have comfortably carried her in my arms up and down the dunes and the multitude of stairs that was on the path. Luckily I had a Beco Butterfly in the car. Because of that, she was able to participate in an activity that most children that age would not have been able to! I love bwing and plan to bw when my lo is born in April.

I went to a Brewers game with my daughter and husband and some of his students when she was 10 months old. It started to rain while we were tailgating, so I put her into my front carrier and wrapped a blanket around her to keep her dry and warm. During the game, we received so many comments from students and strangers about how content my daughter was and how well she was behaving during the game. When she started to get sleepy, I discreetly nursed her. She fell asleep in my arms and I carefully put her back into the carrier without disturbing her. I went back to my seat and, even though the lights were bright and the fans were loud and cheering, my daughter slept close to me in her carrier throught the remainder of the game. I have no doubt that this experience could have been a disaster had I not been babywearing to keep her calm and feeling close to me!

I love wearing my children! I would wear my DD everywhere we went. When she would get tired or upset while we were out she would ask me to get out the sling. It was her security blanket and she would instantly calm down as soon as she was snuggled up in it. I have just started my baby wearing adventures with my new son and I know that it will as rewarding as it was with my DD.

Positive baby wearing story:
My mom and stepdad were traveling to Ethiopia to adopt their third child. They needed my husband and me to come down and watch the other two kids. However, we live in WI and they are in FL. Grace was only a month old at the time. I had to go by myself down. The only way I managed to make it through the airport and the whole experience on my own was with my Moby. I got a lot of looks but I felt so secure, knowing my baby was comfy and safe next to me, and that others couldn't just start touching her whenever they wanted. :) It was great! I will never travel without a carrier!

When I was pregnant with my daughter, someone gifted me with a Moby-wrap because I had admired hers so often. I never appreciated it more than those first few months when my daughter had to be held and walked in order to fall asleep! She would cuddle down into it and sleep peacefully, letting me get some things done around the house (not sleep, but at least something). Now we are expecting a second little one and definitely plan on doing some 'wearing'!

Babywearing is a lifesaver for me while shopping. Especially now with so many scary viruses out there. My youngest was never happy in her carseat and at the time I only knew of a Snugli carrier, so I used that and that is how we had happy shopping time. Now that I know of other carriers that are better designed, I am excited to find the perfect carrier that doesn't hurt my back and shoulders. Love keeping my babies close!

When my son was around 3 weeks old, he hated to be put down. I purchased a sling to carry him around in so that I could get some housework done. He would fall asleep everytime :) I also used it to go grocery shopping because my carseat doesn't fit in the carts nicely. He loves to be carried - and I like being able to get things done! :)

Baby wearing is such a great bonding experience. My little ones loved to be "worn" around the house while mama was still able to get the daily chores done. I'm expecting a new little bundle in Aug. and definately wanting an Ergo...and the Seafoam Green is my favorite color! (sigh)

Amy said...

I went to my hometown to visit my parents (population 15000) with my son when he was a few months old. I wore him in my ring sling everywhere we went and got a lot of strange stares. In one store, a very nice lady came up to me and started asking a ton of questions: Where did you get that? What is it? It's so beautiful! He looks so happy in there. I want to get one for my daughter to use with her baby. etc.
I was thrilled that by just wearing my baby I could spread the benefits to someone who might otherwise have not known slings existed.

A positive babywearing story? Just one?

A few months ago my puppy destroyed my Ergo. I wasn't able to function normally without it. I don't have one of those babies that you can just put down while you wash the dishes or sweep the floor, and I couldn't walk my dogs without it. Sure, I could have used a ring sling but it's just not the same.

So I made a craigslist ad asking is anyone had an Ergo, Beco, or other SSC that I could borrow until I got a new one. I doubted anyone would lend me one but it wouldn't hurt to try, right?

Well someone offered. It turned out that she was the attendance office lady from my old high school. I was a "troubled" teenager and had a tendency to miss some classes so she saw a lot of me back then. We talked quite a bit and it was great to reconnect with her. She was glad to see that I turned out to be such a great adult and mother (her words, though I have to agree).

When my new Ergo arrived I returned her's to her and we talked for quite a while again. Now we're Facebook friends and are keeping in touch :)

PS - If I win I plan to give the Ergo to my pregnant sister-in-law. She has a hard-structured crotch-dangler back carrier and I would love for her to have a soft-structured carrier that is more comfortable fore wearer and wearee (wearee?).

A positive babywearing story..
With my first DD I had worn her in a stretchy wrap right from the start. My sister (anti-babywearer) thought I was strange and left it at that. Well fastforward a few years and here we are both preggers again and she is interested in babywearing after seeing how great a time I had. So I gifted her a stretchy wrap and she loved it, she also loved my MT. Best part was I "converted" her to a babywearer and now she spreads the word on babywearing to her friends.

I've been wearing our 3 month old son on a daily basis since he was 2 days old! I love the closeness and he gets a big grin when I get out the wrap or sling. What's really special to me is that my husband wears him whenever he can and always when we go out for walks and hikes. He says that the extra bonding helps to make up for the time he has to be away from our son while he's at work. I'm so glad that my son will grow up with such a caring, involved, babywearing dad!

This isn't a very interesting babywearing story, but it means so much to me: Our 17-month-old son would not sleep anywhere but his Slingling sling from three to sixth months of age. He couldn't be rocked, fed, or consoled to sleep any other way! But my husband and I would put him in the sling against one of us, and he would nap for hours, just feeling calm and settled against us. The sling was the magic bullet! I loved that time and miss it now!

My best babywearing story had to be the day our son Dylan was born. Without a car in the middle of the city, I got rolled out of the hospital still looking pregnant...that's because my baby was in the moby right in front! We took him home in a taxi, sleeping happily in the sling! I would love to carry him now in a beautiful ERGO!

Rachel said...

Between 4 and 7 months old, my daughter refused to nurse to sleep. We tried rocking, bouncing singing, everything! The only thing that worked was taking her for a walk in the stroller. I hated the way that she looked sad, bored, and just short of content as she stared at me from inside that stroller. After a week or two of this, I dug out the wrap that my step-mom gave to me and took it for a spin. We tried a front wrap cross carry, and she was instantly in love! Several months of nightly wrap-walks ensued - SO much better than the stroller! What a lovely way to put baby to sleep when she really needs some extra help finding that ever-elusive slumber. She has returned to nursing to sleep during the last few weeks, which has been wonderful, but sometimes I miss our nightly sleepy walks.

My son has acid reflux and it was really bad a few months ago. Well, I had bought a Mai Tai and was waiting for it to come in the mail when my son had an all out reflux meltdown. I was holding him in front of the front window (his favorite spot) rocking him and trying to calm him. My arms were burning after holding him for a couple hours. Just then the delivery man pulled up and brought me a package. I ripped it open and wrapped the Mai Tai around us before the delivery truck pulled away. My arms got a much needed break and my son was so happy to be upright and close to mommy. The Mai Tai couldn't have come at a more perfect time.
