January 28th-February 3rd Weekly Giveaway

The ERGO Baby Carrier is one of the most popular baby carriers on the market! It is easy to put on and take off while providing you complete freedom of movement. This baby carrier can be used from infant (by using the Infant Insert) to toddler - just one carrier to meet all your needs. Simple! Even better, it is super versatile and you can wear it on the front, back, and hip positions (moving between the positions is easy). The ERGO Baby Carrier has an ergonomic design that fully supports both you and your baby in a very comfortable and healthy way. For baby this design supports a correct sitting position for their hip, pelvis, and spine growth. This position disperses most of the baby's weight between the hips and thighs helping to eliminate compression of the spine when hanging by the crotch which most other designs require. For parents, the fit of this baby carrier helps keep your body aligned and alleviate common back pain with baby carrying so you can hold your baby longer. With two shoulder straps and a very supportive waist belt the baby's weight is evenly distributed over the parent's body. The ERGO Baby Carrier is great to be used anytime...great for shopping, traveling, hiking, housework, gardening, and any activity you can think of where the parent(s) need freedom yet baby is safely and securely attached. Leave your stroller at home! No more navigating through crowds trying not to run others over. Plus, in the front position this baby carrier is perfect for nursing and simply holding your baby close when they are in need of comfort. If your baby falls asleep (which can happen often in this comfy carrier) the attached sleeping hood is perfect to cover your baby.

The ERGO Baby Carrier is a one size fits most carrier (great for Moms and Dads) and comes in a variety of colors! Each carrier comes with a free instructional DVD. Accessories are available too!

ERGO has a new Infant Insert that is designed to support baby's pelvis, hip joint and leg position along with the head and neck. The specially padded and shaped cushion can quickly and easily be placed in the carrier and readjusted as needed. It snaps closed around the infant, holding the baby in a cozy, protected environment.

To enter to win a free Organic Sea Green Ergo Baby Carrier and Organic Silver Infant Insert, you will receive ONE entry for EACH option below (you MUST leave a comment for each option saying what you did and where). This means you can get multiple entries increasing your chance to WIN! (each "Weekly Giveaway" may be different):

I have quite a few positive baby wearing stories!

My first daughter was a very high needs baby! She had to be held constantly. When I finally got my sling we both became much happier because I could wear her and she'd go to sleep, and I'd get stuff done. I was a much happier mother and wearing her saved my sanity!

Taegen, my infant, had silent reflux when she was a few weeks old until 4 months and wearing her at night made it easier for her to sleep because the reflux hurt her, and having her against my chest kept her from choking on any spit up/ and let her sleep peacefully!

My positive BW story is when I was able to show my friend how much happier her baby was when she wore him and was able to get her as excited about babywearing as I am :)

Finally, here's a little positive bw story for you...

When my kiddo was an infant, he always got fussy around 4pm. We tried just about everything to calm him but the best thing we found was to strap him snugly to my chest in a MobyD wrap. Within a few seconds of getting him in there, he'd settle right down and snuggle his head under my chin. Then not only was he not crying, but I also had my hands free and was finally able to get some stuff done around the house. Yay for babywearing!

Having had my 4th child 5 months ago. I have worn him more than my other three especially while shopping. One positive expereince was while wearig him grocery shopping one day I had a woman stop me and ask about my sling and had several questions about baby wearing. She was about 8 months pregant and had a toddler too. I think I convinced her of all of the positive aspects of baby wearing and I think I sold her on the concept!

the positive bwing story that comes to mind is from my daughters nursing strike at 3.5 months. it was a very stressful time and i was unaware that a strike was what was happening. i finally got dd to nurse in the wrap. it created our own little world - i think it ws the first time i had taken a breath all day and we both relaxed. it was a bright moment during a rough time!

Babywearing story: we just got a Kangaroo Korner today, and can't say enough good things about it. I put my 8 week old in it just for a few minutes before I threw it in the wash, which I always do with new stuff before using. When I went to pull him out of it, he started screaming. He's never loved a baby carrier so much.

Story - While we were at Disney, we had to get on and off buses before entering the park, and it was early. So, I strapped my son on and off we went. He slept through it all and for an hour once we were at the park. He was precious and I loved hearing him and feeling him breathe while he was sleeping. It melts me just thinking about it!

My son was extreamly small when he was born at 4lbs 14oz full term. I had to nurse him every two hours, and if I didn't have a sling to nurse him in, I never would have been able to cook dinner, or get anything else done for that matter! It was a life saver. I enjoy being able to hold my babies close for the precious time I can & baby wearing creates SO much more of that contact time!

My favorite baby wearing was when I went to a wedding when my son was 4 months old. I wore him in a Moby wrap and loved it. He slept in it most of the time and it made the experience enjoyable. I also love wearing my second son in a sling, especially when he was younger so I could spend time and have hands free for my oldest son.

I have 3 kids, Hazel 5 is ballet, and during her Christmas recital, the only way I made it through, was to wear our infant daughter 2 1/2 months old. Backstage, through costume changes, and on runs out into the audience, to see my oldest on stage, it was a wonderful 2 1/2 hrs, of bonding with both girls. It was close to the end, and I took baby out to get ready to be able to be ready to give her to Daddy, after the last dance, but Hazel fell on stage, hit her head, and out of chaois, I laid down my carrier, and didn't realize it til we got home. After Christmas break, I called the school, and of course, nobody turned it in. So, with hubby on unemployed, we can't afford another one :(
But, I am very happy that I was able to watch my 5 yr. old on the "big stage" and not have to worry about my husband not being able to breastfeed the baby, while my hands would have been full with costume accessories.

I love babywearing, but never see anyone do it around here (everyone jokes that I'm incredibly identifiable because I'm always wearing a sling...both of my babies have literally lived in the sling for their babyhoods...sweet memories of baby snuggles that will keep me warm when I'm old). Took a trip to disneyland, and saw probably over a hundred babywearing mamas while I was there! I felt like I had come home!

When my son was about six month old it was time for us to vaccinate and shear our sheep. I couldn't figure out how I was going to help hubby and take care of my son. So I put him in my snuggli carrier, and I was skeptical that we could go help for too long, it was great. My son had a wonderful day and really enjoyed the sheep and even started making sheep sounds. The down side was the carrier was not made for a kid so heavy and I had a very sore back the next day. But my sister in law tells me the ergo takes care of that, it's what she uses.

I used a baby sling to carry around my son at an open air market. It was on the grass and hilly so there was no way a stroller would have worked. the sling helped take so much pressure off of my back while allowing me to be hands free. On top of that he slept the whole time. I didn't wear my first son much, but am hoping to wear my second one more.

Story: I carried my son (now 6 months, was 7 weeks at the time) up Bear Creek Mountain in a babybjorn carrier. He slept almost the whole way up and down. It is a great memory for me.
I also put him in his Moby wrap while teaching choir, and while volunteering at a thrift store. Lots of people comment on how cozy he looks.

My best baby wearing story is how over the course of the summer my mother went from "OMG he's going to fall out of that sling" to telling all the little old ladies at the church rummage sale that my son was completely safe in his sling (he was clearly comfy; he'd fallen asleep).

I subscribed to your blog, became a fan on fb,(thaenaturiel) commented on fb, talked about this on a forum ( community.babycenter.com )( October 2009 birth board), here's my positive babywearing experience. I went out with my baby in my sleepy wrap, I was out for four hours and the baby never cried, ( Except for food), everyone was asking about my wrap , if it was comfortable, safe? And I'm pretty sure a couple of them even went online to buy one. My baby usually cries the minute I step out of my house, so not crying while out was a wonderful experince. I would really love to try an ergo.

My BW'ing story:
When my daughter was born in April last year (she is now 9 months), I became one of those mothers who had a hard time bonding with her. It was probably the worst time in my life. I felt like she hated me. I became depressed, and 3 weeks after having her I started reading about BW'ing. If it wasn't for being able to wear her, i'm not sure I would have come out of the slump. She is attached to my hip now! (Literally! haha)

I tried wearing my first baby in a Bjorn but had to give that up quickly! Ouch, we were both so uncomfortable! By the time my third baby was born I was desperate to find a comfortable carrier and that's when I discovered the wonderful world of babywearing! Babywearing allows me to care for my two toddlers (3 and 2 years old) while meeting the physical and emotional needs of my 4 month old. I started babywearing to survive life with three small children, but now I find myself babywearing simple because my baby and I love it! I have gotten so many compliments when I'm out wearing her in our Mei Tai and have recommended babywearing to friends who have since gone on to buy Mei Tais or ring slings of their own. Ring slings have become my gift of choice for baby shower gifts. I love babywearing!

Katy said...

Positive Baby Wearing Story:

I had a lot of trouble breastfeeding in the first couple of months after my LO was born. I just never seemed to produce enough milk! I started carrying her in a sling or wrap and taking a daily walk. To my surprise- baby wearing was all I needed to do to increase my supply and encourage her to nurse more!

When I learned about babywearing, I fell in love with the idea that I could carry my baby with me and keep him so close, especially as a newborn. I truly believe that it helped give us a stronger bond and I love to wear him out and about (and I know he loves it too). One of my absolute favorite things is when he falls asleep in the carrier. =)

positive babywearing: I can still do things I enjoy and include my son. Hometown high school football games- as a baby bundled up and asleep in the sling; high school, college football & basketball games and swim meets- as a toddler carried in a front and watch the game/ meet too; miserable windy Kansas day- we can still run errands with the baby in the sling protected from the dust and happy as can be! We also enjoy hiking trails in Colorado. If he gets too tired, he can nap. Then we aren't stuck at the cabin for hours and can enjoy nature.

I am a fan on facebook and I have always had a postive experience when ordering from Nicki's diapers. I love babywearing! It enables me to do housework and go places while allowing my little boy to feel the security of being close to me. And he learns about the world around him, because he sees it from a different viewpoint while in a carrier. I have tried a ring sling and a wrap but would love to try the Ergo because it looks like it would be comfy for long walks and hikes!

When my 3rd daughter was small, I wore her a lot. I made a wrap carrier, and we both loved it. I wore her to the grocery store many times. I would say the best wearing experience was when she was 7 months old, and we were going to visit family in California. I wore her in the airport, through security, and onto the plane. It made the whole process much easier, especially with 3 children!
