Sometimes I get compression leaks with my pocket diapers of one certain popular brand. Even when they aren't totally full, sometimes they leak out the back/leg area, or the tummy when she sleeps in them at naptime. I just recently stripped my stash and I started using the bumGenius detergent about a week or two ago, so I hope it's not repellency issues. I always put the extra part of the folded microfiber insert at the front of the diaper because I know she's a tummy sleeper. Any other suggestions? I am looking for new ideas for what to try, because I really love these diapers otherwise. I don't seem to be having this issue with another brand of pockets.

Wondering about good diapers and/or covers for newborns.

How important is getting special detergent to wash your diapers? I hear a lot of mamas saying that they just use regular free&clear detergent and make out ok...we do have hard well-water and an HE washing machine. Thanks!

Whats the best ammo for hard water?

I'd like to know about RLR and other stripping methods. I know about blue dawn, but it seems like there are a million and one methods on Diaper Swappers. Maybe you could do some "lab tests" and see which methods were more effective. It'd at least be a fun read... :)

I think it would be interesting to see a post about switching sizes of cloth diapers (or diapering a baby that seems to be on the border of sizes). I use different size prefold depending on the situation (smaller and trimmer for certain outfits, bigger for overnight, etc.).

I just bought some of the new Best Bottom wraps and LOVE them!!!! We have 'strawberry shortcake' I am using Wonder Wraps and really like them; however was looking for sonething a little easier to wipe up and a wrap that wouldn't hold the pee smell as much between laundry days.
I LOVE the new Best Bottom wrap. I am using a Nicki's insert w/a piece of fleece inside it. I love the double gusset and the combo of snaps and velcro! I have been cloth diapering for 9 1/2 years and really appreciate new products :)

I, too, would like to know how important is it to have special detergent... also, what "over the counter" detergents are ok to use for cloth diapers? And in a cold climate, natural sunshine-whitening is not an option -- how do i whiten my diapers?

How do I know which detergents are okay to use, and any ideas for killing that 'old person' smell that seeps into the diapers? Mine only shows up now that I am no longer drying my PUL diapers, I can beat down the stink by not additionally rinsing the pockets themselves, but is this hurting the pockets, or is it the insert we need to make sure is 'extra' rinsed? Hopefully by summer I will be able to line dry in the sun and maybe that will help. Thanks in advance! I use Planet liquid, and I have no other issues other than the diapers smelling like your great grandmother's house. Very odd.

I live in an apartment and hence have to use community laundry machines. How concerned do I need to be about soap residue in community laundry machines in regards to my cloth diapers? I use additive free detergent, but always wonder if there is a film or something left in the machine (from someone else) that I can't see and may effect my diapers at some point. Any suggestions of how to handle using community laundry machines and cloth diapering?

Do you carry any AIO diapers that come in fun prints?

How do I know if my one size diapers are actually too small? I have a 23 lb baby 31.5 height and sometimes it seems like even unfolded all the way maybe it's not big enough? She's average height and weight for age of 15 mos.

I would like to know how to strip with RLR? I have tried dawn and boiling, but I am still having some ammonia problems in my nighttime dipes. Would stripping with RLR help?

What are some good choices for newborns? Any helpful tips on training pants?

Is it true that using Charlie's soap voids the warranty on BumGenius diapers?

Have you had any complaints or people having issues with the new BumGenius Flip system? I think its a great idea but I don't like that there isn't anything that really hold the liner in place and I'd like to know more about issues people have had and if its easy to overcome them before ordering them. Thanks!

I'm debating between BumGenius and Fuzzibunz AIO's. Help?

What are the pros and cons between buying different sized pocket diapers or one-size that grow with the baby?

I use the BumGenius one size. Are these supposed to fit babies through all of their diapering years?

I would love solutions to cloth diapering a skinny child. Have already been emailing with you about this but am sure there are others out there who encounter the same problems!

I am new to cloth diapering and have heard many new terms out there. What does is mean to 'strip' your diapers and how do you do it?

I have a question for Nicki's in general. Have you thought about doing a layaway program? It makes buying something like a more expensive carrier (e/g: a beco carrier which is usually about $140) more affordable to do payments on or to make payments for cloth diapers ahead of time, before baby has come, so parents can afford to have cloth diapers when baby arrives.

I've heard that some people prep prefolds by boiling them. Do you think that this is a good idea? I wonder if this could damage them even though it makes prepping faster.

I would also love to know what a good diaper is for a newborn. I currently cloth diaper our 15 month old but had a hard time finding a good fit when she was tiny. We used BG's onesize with her. Now we are expecting our 2nd and I want to find a diaper that seems trimmer and not so bulky on a newborn.

Thanks so much!

What's the best way to strip my diapers? Also, what detergent do you recommend above all others for washing the diapers? I currently use Seventh Generation, but I'm beginning to notice a little build up.

I love using cloth diapers, however sometimes they don't seem to fit well under some of my daughters clothes. We mostly use prefolds w/ Thirsties covers. What diapers do you recommend for a trim fit?

Hello,

I am currently waiting for our best bottom diapers to arrive in the mail. I will be using them with prefolds. I would like to know what is the best way to clean newborn poop messes. I bought some bumkins biodegradable liners to use for a short while after my baby is born to see if this helps. Also I was wondering what kind of detergant I can use with these covers. I have gerber organic perfolds unbleached and I have already pretreated them. What detergent can I use for both of these products? Will the covers be bulky using the prefolds?
